Victim Support Scotland has announced a brand-new service that will support male and trans people who have been impacted by domestic abuse.

Victim Support Scotland will deliver this new service thanks to funding from the Scottish Government’s Whole Family Wellbeing Fund. The service will be delivered from the charity’s new premises in Inverness from April 1st 2026, building on the support currently offered to victims and witnesses of crime in the area.

Victim Support Scotland is Scotland’s national charity for people affected by crime. It provides free, confidential, and trauma-informed support to victims, witnesses, and their families - regardless of the crime type, when it happened, or whether it was reported to the police.

VSS works across all 32 local authority areas in Scotland, supporting people at some of the most difficult moments in their lives. The new funding will be earmarked specifically to support male and trans people who have been impacted by domestic abuse.

Jacqueline Cassidy, Director of Service Delivery at Victim Support Scotland, said:

“We are very much looking forward to building positive links and creating productive partnerships across the Highlands, with partners who already provide much-needed support for women impacted by domestic abuse.

“Most importantly, we are proud to be supporting victims of crime who were previously not catered for, and for whom funding was not previously available.

“As we develop the service in time for its launch in April, we want people affected, or agencies who are supporting them, to know they can turn to VSS for this important support.”
