Victim Support Scotland (VSS) has appointed Debbie Adams as Interim Chief Executive.

Debbie was previously Director of Development and External Affairs at VSS, and takes over from Kate Wallace, who stepped down in November after eight years at the head of the organisation.

Victim Support Scotland is Scotland’s national charity for people affected by crime. It provides free, confidential, and trauma-informed support to victims, witnesses, and their families - regardless of the crime type, when it happened, or whether it was reported to the police.

VSS works across all 32 local authority areas in Scotland, supporting people at some of the most difficult moments in their lives.

Debbie joined the charity in August 2024 and brings a wealth of experience to the post of Interim Chief Executive.

Debbie has over 15 years in senior management roles in the charity and private sectors. Prior to VSS, Debbie held Director roles in The Conservation Volunteers and Children First. She was the first employee Director of a consultancy company leading on evaluation and improvement in health, youth and community fields.

She started her career in youth and community work and remains a lifelong volunteer, currently as a Trustee for SCVO. She holds an MBA from the University of Glasgow.

“Resourcing pressures across sectors means victims risk falling through the gaps, especially if they do not engage with formal justice processes. We will strive to ensure that no one affected by crime is left without support. We will proactively reach out, and build partnerships, to reach those who might not otherwise seek our services. I am extremely grateful for the committed staff and volunteer team who are the backbone of VSS.
