VSS appoints new Chair of Trustees

Following an open recruitment process, Jon Turner has been appointed Chair of the VSS Board of Trustees. He has taken over from Alastair MacDonald who held the post for three years until April 2019 when Vice-Chair Liz Taylor stepped in to help whilst a new chair was sought.

Jon has been a VSS Board member since 2017 and has a background in commercial and third sector leadership. He served as the Treasurer of the Board before accepting the role of Chair. He has worked across the public and private sectors, including in banking and finance roles. He is currently the CEO at the Link Group, one of the largest Registered Social Landlord’s in Scotland.

Jon has significant senior level experience in highly regulated sectors (both charity and financial) and has a particular focus on social welfare and equalities. He has worked in a Trustee Director capacity for several national charities often supporting challenging transformational change programmes. Jon brings to the board a strong awareness of how to balance the commercial needs of organisations alongside their socially based ethos of protecting and caring for people who are in most need of it.

Jon’s range of expertise will ensure we continue their work and take Victim Support Scotland forward as part of our new strategy to develop our services and put victims and witnesses first.”
