Policy & advocacy
Amplifying voices, shaping change
At Victim Support Scotland, we are dedicated to creating a justice system that places individuals affected by crime at its core. Our commitment extends beyond immediate assistance, delving into the realm of policy advocacy to address systemic issues.

Our three-point policy strategy
Central to our mission is actively influencing policies that prioritise placing victims and witnesses of crime at the heart of the justice system in Scotland.
We forge strategic partnerships within the criminal justice sector, working with the Scottish and UK Governments, parliamentarians, civil servants, and policymakers. Through collaborative efforts, we emphasise a coordinated, multi-organisational strategy within the Scottish criminal justice system.
By advocating for the active inclusion of the voices of people with lived experience of crime, we aim to shape the trajectory of Scotland's justice system, ensuring that policies authentically mirror the needs and perspectives of those affected by crime throughout the country.
Shaping justice through policy advocacy
Explore our policy efforts prioritising victim and witness well-being and empowerment. We advocate for victim-centric reforms and foster partnerships in the criminal justice sector to drive meaningful policy change, addressing all aspects of how crime impacts individuals' lives.
