Appointment of New Chief Executive

We are delighted to announce the appointment of Kate Wallace as the new Chief Executive of Victim Support Scotland(VSS).

1 August, 2017

Kate has thirteen years’ experience of high profile leadership roles in the public and voluntary sectors in both executive and non-executive roles. She currently leads Visualise Scotland, a service delivery charity that provides services to people living with disabilities and complex needs from across Scotland.

Prior to that, Kate was the UK Programme Director for Barnardo’s based between London and Glasgow.

Qualified with a Postgraduate Diploma in Social Research and an MBA in Public Service Management, Kate will join the team at VSS at an exciting time.

“Recent changes to the criminal justice system have established minimum standards on rights, support and protection for victims of crime”, says Chairman of the Executive Board, Alastair MacDonald. “This, coupled with the changes which have also been made to strengthen the role of charities in our society, mean that there are many opportunities for Victim Support Scotland to develop and build on what we provide as a key organisation in the criminal justice system. Kate is an energetic leader with a proven track record of delivering. The Board of VSS are looking forward to welcoming her to the team at the end of October”.

Speaking about her new appointment, Kate said, “I am really excited to be joining Victim Support Scotland. I have long admired the wonderful work of the charity, and I am honoured to accept the post of Chief Executive. I look forward to working collaboratively with staff and volunteers, the Board of Trustees and all external partners, to continue to deliver the best service we can to victims and witnesses of crime across Scotland.”
