VSS is seeking new trustees for the board

6 May, 2021

It is an exciting time for Victim Support Scotland as the charity has recently launched its new five-year strategy, coinciding with additional funding from the Scottish Government allowing its ambitions of empowering people after crime to be taken further.

Victim Support Scotland is also working with partner organisations to transform the way that justice and victim support services are delivered throughout Scotland. This is partly based on some of the learning and innovation that has been seen during the Coronavirus pandemic.

Dynamic and talented people from throughout Scotland are welcome to apply.

New board members will be actively contributing to Victim Support Scotland’s mission that everyone affected by crime receives high quality support and care they need to move forward in their lives.

Kate Wallace, Chief Executive of Victim Support Scotland, comments: “It’s important that our board reflects the diversity of the people we support. We particularly encourage applications from diverse gender identities and LGBTQIA+ and BAME communities, as well as people with diverse physical abilities and neurodiversity. We welcome applications from anywhere in Scotland. You also don’t have to have previous trustee experience to apply.

“In return, we are offering a trustee experience like no other. You will be joining a compassionate organisation that is providing critical support to all people affected by crime. We will provide you with an opportunity learn about the courts and the criminal justice system in Scotland, and your ideas and talents will enable us to continue to evolve and improve as an organisation.”

Victim Support Scotland is open to all kinds of applicants and is looking for people with the following particular skills and knowledge:

  • Knowledge and understanding of the criminal justice system
  • Knowledge and understanding of Scottish charities
  • Accountancy qualification or experience
