VSS Awarded The Lasting Difference® Sustainability Symbol

Victim Support Scotland is one of five Scottish charities to have been awarded The Lasting Difference® Symbol in recognition of our commitment to organisational sustainability

This new symbol allows us to demonstrate we are committed to taking action on organisational sustainability and working to best practice in the field.

Victim Support Scotland, Bobath Scotland, Chest, Heart & Stroke Scotland, Dyslexia Scotland and Support in Mind Scotland have all used ideas and resources from the Lasting Difference toolkit in creative and exciting ways to support sustainability and impact. In recognition of this commitment we are among the first organisations to be awarded The Lasting Difference® Symbol.

The Lasting Difference is a consultancy working with non-profits which recognises that sustainability is a key concern for the sector and those who fund, support and benefit from their services. The Lasting Difference toolkit was developed and launched in 2016 to help organisations explore, plan and take action on different aspects of organisational sustainability. With over 5000 copies in circulation in the UK and worldwide it is clear this is an issue that those working in the sector are keen to address.

Kate Wallace, Chief Executive of Victim Support Scotland, comments: “It is great to have this recognition through being awarded The Lasting Difference symbol. Providing consistent and quality support to victims and witnesses of crime is central to our mission as an organisation. The toolkit has opened our eyes to the ways that we can ensure our sustainability and future as an organisation, which ultimately will help victims and witnesses across Scotland.”

These organisations will join a new community of practice, with facilitated peer support and an annual networking event. Continuing the conversations, collaborating and innovating will be key to responding to the immediate and future challenges the sector faces.
